Desiring the Mercies of God with Confidence

And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.
Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. (Dan 2:1-2)

  • •  The King Nebuchadnezzar gets a terrifying dream and forgets it.
  • •  He demands his wise men to tell him the dream and also interprete it.
  • •  All the wise men are not only shocked about this request but they can’t interpret it.
  • •  The King Nebuchadnezzar commands that if the wise men can’t tell him the dream, they are at risk of death.
  • •  This includes Daniel and his friends.
  • •  Daniel’s immediate response was bold and Confident. Notice the order.

Then  Daniel   went  to his house, and made the thing known   to Hananiah,   Mishael,  and Azariah, his companions:
That they would desire  mercies  of the God   of heaven  concerning  this  secret ; that  Daniel   and his fellows   should not   perish  with   the rest  of the wise   men of Babylon.  (Dan 2: 17-18)

  • •  He told the King that he would be interprete the dream and asked for time.
  • •  He and his friends desired (prayed for) mercies of the Lord.
  • •  The Lord then showed the Vision to Daniel in the dream.
  • •  The Dream of the Statue that revealed the era of Men after the Kingdom of Isreal had ended.
  • •  Daniel is promoted. And also his friends.

They were not only saved but also got promoted because of their confidence in the Mercy of the Lord.

David  said   moreover, The LORD   that  delivered   me out of the paw  of the lion,   and out of the paw   of the bear,  he   will deliver   me out of the hand   of this  Philistine.  And Saul  said  unto   David,   Go,   and the LORD   be  with   thee. (1 Sa 17:37)

Let us come, therefore, with boldness, to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and find grace to help in every time of need. (Heb 4: 16)

For the Lord is Good and His mercy Endures forever!
