THE SIN OFFERING - Unintentional Sin

Leviticus 4

🌻The root word for unintentional sin is to “miss the mark”. The person is not aware but either way misses the mark.

But you know that Christ appeared to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin. No one who remains in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has seen Him or known Him. (1 John 3:6)

🌻Intentional sins are when we willfully make decisions and carry out actions we know are not right.  We know where God stands in regards to these.

🌻Unintentional sins take place with people who love God but do something he is not pleased with and only realize it later.

🌻The sin offering was not for those sins that were done intentionally but mistakes or failure to do fully what the Lord instructed.

🌻For example in the case of Uzza, he tried out of good will to save the ark from falling when the Oxen stumbled but that was not his duty because he was not a priest. He did the right think but in the wrong jurisdiction and God’s anger killed him.

And when they came to Chidon's threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled. Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzza, and He struck him because he put his hand to the ark; and he died there before God. ( 1 Chron 13: 9 -14)

🌻For such unintentional sins, the Lord directed the Sin offering.

🌻After the death of Christ, the sin offering is no longer required to be offered but our minds need to be renewed because the Seed we have recieved of God is opposed to sin and the Holy Spirit helps us to be aware of any kind of sin.

🌻As a helper, he helps us to be identify any sin against God and Man and also helps us know what we ought to do to pursue Peace with men and Holiness.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: (Heb 12:14)

🌻In the journey of service to God, there are patterns and principles that must be followed to attain the full reward as Paul mentions in (1 Cor 9:25 -27). When we fall short, the Grace of God is available for our repentance and restoration.

Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. (1 Cor 9: 25 -27)
