How well would you explain frequency to your 6 year old nephew? Well, not the easiest of tasks but i liked how a friend of mine went about it.So, here it goes. Let's imagine you have a toy car and a remote control. The remote control sends signals to the car so you can make it move in different directions.
Well, a radio frequency works in a similar way, but instead of controlling a toy car, it helps send signals for your favorite radio stations to play music or your favorite shows to come on TV. You know how we can't see the signals that make our remote control work? Well, radio frequencies are also invisible signals that travel through the air. These signals are like special codes that carry the sounds and information for your radio or TV.
Here's how it works: Inside your radio or TV, there's a special part called a receiver. It's like the ears of your radio or TV. When you turn on your radio or TV and choose a station, the receiver inside it starts listening for those special signals. But where do the signals come from? They come from radio stations. and these radio stations have big antennas that send out the signals into the air.
It's like they're talking to your radio or TV through the airwaves. When the signals from the radio station reach your radio or TV, the receiver inside can catch those signals and turn them back into sound or pictures. That's why you can hear music or see your favorite shows.
So, radio frequencies are invisible signals that travel through the air and carry sounds and information. They help your radio or TV talk to the radio stations, so you can listen to music or watch your favorite shows. It's like a secret language that only radios and TVs can understand!
in the Book of Proverbs 4:20-22, we see a deliberate call for us to tune our ears to the frequency words of wisdom. The metaphor of "opening(inclining) our ear" to these sayings implies that wisdom is speaking and only those with its frequency are able to listen and not just hear what wisdom is speaking.
Just like the radio frequencies are silent and not visible to the eye, the words of wisdom are in the air and we need to open our ears (incline or tune) to this word. In otherwords, just as the radios, we can produce the sound it carries.
My son, pay attention to my words and be willing to learn; Open your ears to my sayings. Do not let them escape from your sight; Keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, And healing and health to all their flesh. (Prov 4:22)
Inclining (opening) our ear as used in the KJV is a powerful metaphor that invites us to stoop down, bow our heads, and pay careful attention, just like tuning to a specific frequency. It suggests that by actively listening, we open ourselves up to receiving wisdom and guidance. Just as a humble posture enables us to absorb and learn, a receptive mindset allows us to internalize the wisdom that is shared.
Planting the seed: Make the word your own
Verse 21 continues, "Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart." Here, the importance of cherishing and preserving the wisdom we acquire is emphasized. It implies that we should not let these words slip away or fade from our consciousness. When a radio or TV runs news about an upcoming flood in a certain area, we need to remember, and stay away from that area, otherwise the news wont be of help.
By keeping wisdom in the "Center of your heart," we internalize it, allowing it to become a fundamental part of our being. Only then are we able to constantly reproduce the sound that this frequency carries just like the radio station keeps playing the music as long as we keep the channel on.When we consciously hold onto wisdom, we ensure that its impact extends beyond the moment of hearing and resonates with us throughout our lives. By this we are able to personalise what we hear to our own scenarios in life.
Producing the Sound: (Living a full and healthy life)
Proverbs 4:22 reveals the profound impact that attentive listening and internalizing wisdom can have: "For they are life to all who get possession of them, and health to their whole body." Listening to words of wisdom and allowing them to take root within us brings about life and vitality.
