Unlocking the Blessing of All Grace

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (2 Cor 9:8)

After Paul encourages the Corinthians to give generously and willingly, he provides further assurance that God can and will provide them with the means to do so. He goes ahead to highlight the spiritual benefits that come from being participants in this good work. (2 Cor 9:11 - 14).

In verse 8, the emphasis is on God's power to provide. The reference to "every grace"  is to earthly blessings that provide the means to give, but some interpretations consider it to refer to spiritual blessings as well. The scripture tells us that the Lord is able to make all grace to abound."To abound"  means to cause abundance or an increase and exceed a fixed number of measure.

This means that God will give us over and above what we need that we may also do exceedingly when it comes to good works. The phrase "in all points at all times all"  means a complete and energetic accumulation. (See Ephesians 3:20). The point here is that God has the power, and He will also do it. The discussion starts with possibility and moves to reality.

Our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think according to the power that works in us. (3:20)

Before anyone can participate in the work of giving, it is required that firstly they have self sustainancy. The requirement of having "every possible self-sufficiency" is necessary for abundance (being active) in every good work and to attain the goal linked to God's blessing in the later verses.

The self-sufficiency is translated contentment in 1 Timothy 6:6 and 1 Timothy 6:8 explains the meaning of the word as the state of mind which, needing nothing but the barest necessaries, regards all other things as superfluities and excesses, to be parted with whenever the needs of others require them. This is the meaning of the words ‘all’ and ‘always.’ At all times, save when he is actually deprived of food and raiment, the Christian ought to regard himself as having enough.

But godliness with contentment is great gain (1 Tim 6:6)

But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content (1 Tim 6:8)

Therefore unlocking the blessing of all Grace abounding towards depends on the state of the heart. The Lord requires that we should be mindful of our state of heart to so that we dont aim to accumulate the excesses of life but that we focus on doing the great work of God. This unlocks the full package of all Grace, that even we begin to even see increase all around us.

You are blessed
