"The Sweet Aroma of Worship: Why you will triumph always"

Genesis 8:21 "And the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: 'Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have done.'"

In the days of Noah,  God  judged the earth because of the wickedness of man. After the flood, Noah offered a sacrifice to God, which the Lord smelled and accepted as a pleasing aroma. This act of worship moved God's heart and led to the promise that he would never again curse the ground or destroy all living creatures.

In this portion of the scripture, when God smelled a sweet aroma, from the sacrifice of Noah, he made an everlasting promise never to curse the ground. This means that the Lord is pleased by the sacrifices of sweet aroma.

In Leviticus 1:9 the priests were required to make sacrifices to God, which were a sweet smell unto the Lord. In here is part of the instructions for the offering of a burnt offering, a type of sacrifice that was made to the Lord in the Tabernacle and later in the Temple. The burnt offering was an expression of complete devotion and surrender to God, and was to be made with a spotless animal.

"..Then the priest will burn the whole burnt offering on the altar as a fire offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord."(Lev 1:9)

In Leviticus 3:16, The instruction to the Levites was that the fat was to be burned compelety and it belonged to the Lord. The phrase "all fat is the Lord's" indicates that the fat of the animal sacrifice was considered sacred and was to be burned completely on the altar as an offering to God. The burning of the fat symbolized the offering of the best and richest part of the animal, and it was seen as a pleasing aroma to God.

"the two kidneys and the fat around them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver. These must be removed with the kidneys, 16 and the priest will burn them on the altar. It is a special gift of food, a pleasing aroma to the Lord. All the fat belongs to the Lord." (Lev 3:16)

This means that our service to God must be the best and we should with hold back nothing as he says in Prov 3:6, Honour the Lord with all your substance and the first fruits of all your increase then shall your barns be filled with plenty and your presses with new wine. Giving the Lord our best is a sweet smelling aroma to Him, that unlocks the blessing of the ground.

We see this requirement fulfilled in Jesus, the perfect offering who became a sweet aroma to God after fulfilling all the requirements of law against man. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and has given us himslef for us an offering and sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling aroma. (Eph 5:2). This means that Christ paid the price for our acceptance before God by giving His life (completely burning away like the fat), which ultimately unlocks the blessing of the Ground.

In 2 Cor 2, Paul highlights the assurance of this great sacrifice and gives thanks to God who always causes us to triumph (conquer) in Christ. Not only are we conquering but he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume because our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God.

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us [d]diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. (2 Cor 2: 14--15)

That is why you cannot fail, that is why its too late for you not to prosper, that is why you will start initiatives (business, ministry, family) and they will be established simply because the Lord is pleased with you. Our lives must reflect the sweet-aroma to God, as we give him the best of our substance: (in business, in ministry, first fruits and in all our dealings) because this is pleasing to the Lord in Christ.
