Bought with a special price

1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." This passage references the idea of the believer's body as a temple of the Holy Spirit, which is also found in Romans 12:1-2 and 2 Corinthians 6:16.

This passage teaches that believers' bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, a metaphor used to convey the idea that our bodies are sacred and holy, set apart for God's use. It also emphasizes that the believer's body is not their own, but rather they are bought at a price and hence should be treated with respect and used to honor God.

This idea of the believer's body as a temple of the Holy Spirit is also found in other passages in the New Testament, such as:

Romans 12:1-2: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

2 Corinthians 6:16: "What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”"

This teaching is quite significant in Christianity as it emphasizes that Christian should be careful in how they live, they should respect the sacredness of their bodies and use it to honor God. It also implies that Christians should live a morally clean and upright life, resisting the urge to engage in activities or habits that might dishonor God.1 Corinthians 6:18 "Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body." This passage references the idea of sexual immorality as a particularly harmful sin which is also found in Ephesians 5:3-5, Colossians 3:5, 1 Thessalonians 4:3
